Star Wars Edition Begins!

What better day to kick off the Star Wars Edition of Dear Inner Demons than on May the 4th? (May the fourth be with you. Get it?). Some people may think that the phrase “May the force be with you" was spoken in the Star Wars films, but the truth is, it actually never was. Obi-Wan says at one point says “Luke, the force will be with you", but not “MAY the force be with you."

Which leads me to todays comic. Another famously misquoted Star Wars quote is “Luke, I am your father." Darth Vader never actually says this, even though I have obviously let it be the inspiration for todays comic. What he actually says is “No. I am your father," soon after cutting off his son’s hand. Here’s how the exchange actually went:

Darth Vader: Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father.
Luke Skywalker: He told me enough! He told me you killed him!
Darth Vader: No. I am your father.

Then Luke screams and whatnot.

Another interesting tidbit is that George Lucas kept the fact that Darth Vader was actually Lukes father a secret right up until they were about to shoot the scene that is showcased in this comic, so as to hopefully ramp up Mark Hamill’s acting for the scene, I guess?

Also, here is a video of the making of this comic:
